Hello and welcome to our website! I believe God rules all things both small and great and has led you here! Let me tell you a little about myself. I was born in Virginia. My father was a pastor and I was saved and baptized when I was 11 years old, but I walked away from the Lord and the Church as a teenager. I joined the US Army when I was 17 years old and served 20 years. When I was 23 years old, I met my wife Becky, and my life began to change as she became an instrument of God to bring me back into the Church (1 Pet 3). I then recommitted my life to the Lord and He began to speak to me about the ministry. I began to mature more in the Lord. Then, in 2001, I sensed God’s call and was given opportunities in our church to do some preaching. This was while I was still in the military. I had to deploy a lot: to Iraq and Afghanistan (2001-2009).
On my 34th birthday in 2006 (March 25), when I was in Baghdad, Iraq, I was wounded while my unit was conducting a raid. During the raid I was shot in the throat by an enemy combatant. As I was going unconscious, thinking I was going to die, I had perfect peace and joy. On this deployment I was the acting chaplain for my unit, and was preaching on Sundays and Wednesdays before going out to fight. This all happened on a Sunday. That morning I had preached on Daniel 3, which as you may know is all about persecution and readiness to suffer for the faith. Now it was Sunday night in Baghdad and I was in a bad place and could sense death at my elbow. But the Lord was very near that night and assured me that I would not die but be brought through the ordeal and would go to serve Him in increasing ways.
It took about six months to recover from my wounds. And would you believe, the bullet actually improved my voice! God certainly does work in mysterious ways. After Iraq, I went to Afghanistan and a few more trips to Iraq before I retired from the military in 2009. I then attended seminary and received two master’s degrees (MA in religion and M Div.). In 2012, I became the pastor of Christ Covenant Baptist Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina. My wife Becky and I have now been married 25 years and have two grown daughters Liane and Collette who are both in college.
On my 46th birthday in 2018, the Lord gave me a vision as to how I was to serve Him. The vision included preaching and teaching on five continents, to assist pastors in forty-nine countries to do the work of evangelism and disciple-making, planting churches, orphanages and pastor’s colleges; to bring these nations to the feet of Jesus Christ. Bonjour et bienvenue sur notre site! Je crois que Dieu gouverne toutes les choses petites et grandes et vous a conduit ici! Laissez-moi vous parler un peu de moi-même. Je suis né en Virginie. Mon père était pasteur et j’ai été sauvé et baptisé à l’âge de 11 ans, mais je me suis éloigné du Seigneur et de l’Église à l’adolescence. J’ai rejoint l’armée américaine à l’âge de 17 ans et j’ai servi 20 ans. Quand j’avais 23 ans, j’ai rencontré ma femme Becky, et ma vie a commencé à changer lorsqu’elle est devenue un instrument de Dieu pour me ramener dans l’Église (1 Pierre 3). J’ai ensuite remis ma vie au Seigneur et il a commencé à me parler du ministère. J’ai commencé à mûrir davantage dans le Seigneur. Puis, en 2001, j’ai senti l’appel de Dieu et j’ai eu la possibilité dans notre église de faire une prédication. C’était pendant que j’étais encore dans l’armée. J’ai dû beaucoup me déployer: en Irak et en Afghanistan (2001-2009).
Lors de mon 34e anniversaire en 2006 (25 mars), alors que j’étais à Bagdad, en Irak, j’ai été blessé alors que mon unité menait un raid. Pendant le raid, j’ai été blessé à la gorge par un combattant ennemi. Alors que j’allais inconscient, pensant que j’allais mourir, j’avais une paix et une joie parfaites. Lors de ce déploiement, j’étais aumônier par intérim de mon unité et je prêchais les dimanches et mercredis avant de sortir combattre. Tout cela s’est passé un dimanche. Ce matin-là, j’avais prêché sur Daniel 3, qui, comme vous le savez peut-être, concerne la persécution et la disposition à souffrir pour la foi. Maintenant c’était dimanche soir à Bagdad et j’étais dans un mauvais endroit et je pouvais sentir la mort au coude. Mais le Seigneur était très proche cette nuit-là et m’a assuré que je ne mourrais pas mais que je serais amené à travers l’épreuve et que j’irais le servir de manière croissante.
Il m’a fallu environ six mois pour récupérer de mes blessures. Et croiriez-vous que la balle a réellement amélioré ma voix! Dieu fonctionne certainement de façon mystérieuse. Après l’Irak, je suis allé en Afghanistan et quelques autres voyages en Irak avant de prendre ma retraite de l’armée en 2009. J’ai ensuite fréquenté le séminaire et obtenu deux maîtrises (MA en religion et M Div.). En 2012, je suis devenu pasteur de l’église baptiste Christ Covenant à Fayetteville, en Caroline du Nord. Ma femme Becky et moi sommes mariés depuis 25 ans et nous avons deux filles adultes, Liane et Collette, qui sont toutes les deux à l’université.
À mon 46e anniversaire en 2018, le Seigneur m’a donné une vision de la façon dont je devais le servir. La vision comprenait la prédication et l’enseignement sur les cinq continents, pour aider les pasteurs de quarante-neuf pays à faire le travail d’évangélisation et de formation de disciples, l’implantation d’églises, d’orphelinats et de collèges de pasteurs; pour amener ces nations aux pieds de Jésus-Christ.
